Krista's Shower

It's late but I thought I'd post some photos of Krista's shower we had for her here at my house on Saturday, the 7th of June.

It was really fun and I think everyone had a good time. I didn't stress out too much mostly because I worked on it for days in advance but hey, at least, there wasn't much to be done the day of!
We played some games (thanks to Kirsten) - we paired up and turned a roll of toilet paper into a baby bonnet and diaper and we puffy painted on 2 little onesies and Krista got to taste baby food and guess what it was.

I am amazed what they make now - entire dinners in a jar! You can see by the photos, she didn't care much for them.

We ate - fruit salad, cheese & crackers and strawberry cheesecake - and Krista opened gifts. It was great fun and so nice to get to know Krista's family better!

New Painting

OK, new painting. Doug. Yep, but I'm painting in a new way and trying very hard to keep it strong and clear and not mushy. I took a picture but noticed too many faults, so not yet.

OK, so I posted it anyway. Watch for the new, improved version!

I did, however, finish this one and like how it turned out. I don't think anyone else will, but that is OK. I can only paint how I like it and if I like something about something else I see, I can incorporate that if I'd like but I simply can't paint hoping that everyone will love it - it's impossible and will only lead to total frustration!

I took this photo with the painting lying down on m sewing table - silly - BUT I can't get the light right anywhere else! Maybe I should get a REAL photo of this one...

I finished 'Misquoting Jesus' and it ended beautifully. Even though there ARE lots of changes and lots of imperfections he made a wonderful conclusion in that each and every word ever written is a person's impression and even the very same story from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were different but each added something unique. Not only that, but every one of us who reads anything takes things differently - no one reads the same thing in anything! So, how could there ever be a final, true book when we are not the person writing. Even if we were, we would probably change it somehow down the road...

I spent the day reading "Blessings" yesterday and it was a great, great story! I highly recommend that one! Yes, what a life, BUT, it was so, so windy out and cool and yucky and it felt so good just to stay in the house and make chocolate chip cookies and read.
